As part of campaign to reduce their carbon footprint the Railway Procurement Agency embarked on a programme of green energy initiatives in 2011.
2011 saw FibreLED deliver a major LED 32 county retrofit project for NEWBRIDGE SILVERWARE

The Hilton in Kilmainham whilst impressive during the day required and uplift during the hours of
darkness. Having made a number of proposals FibreLED supplied and installed a complete exterior
LED lighting package.
Commercial Office LED fit out with 7 year warranty & 85% reduction in consumption.
Opened in March 2011 the new Tesco Store Balbriggan contains 2 feature travelators located within the main thoroughfare of the centre. Significant to their design is the lighting scheme.
As a long terms strategy to reduce running costs, maintenance and in keeping with their environmental obligations The DAA made a decision to move away from fluorescent tubes from all its new signage within the new the new terminal buildings.
The Swan Centre’s original metal halide lighting system resulted in extremely high running and maintenance costs.
Problem: Intense heat from 75watt AR111 Lamps caused the retail space to be uncomfortable and the air conditioning to be running over time. Read the rest of this entry »

In association with Ryan Hanley Consultant Engineers fibreLED specified, fabricated and supplied a bespoke LED luminaire for the Ballina Ridge Pool pedestrian bridge in Ballina, Co Mayo, Ireland.
Dublin’s James Joyce Bridge goes LED.
The landmark James Joyce Bridge, crossing the Liffey in Dublin’s city centre was the site of FibreLED’s latest high profile project.
LED Flood lights and Street lights were installed in car park of Cavan General Hospital replacing 1000W with 120W. This represents 80% consumption savings on traditional luminaires that were easily installed and retrofitted.
The HSE in association with SEI embarked on a full energy survey with the aim of reaching a significant reduction in consumption levels across all of their locations and facilities.
Carlow Shopping Centre car park had constant issues with lighting driving up the cost of maintenance and repair.

The illumination of steps and public access areas is a safety requirement. Vandalism, light level, maintenance and running cost are all issues facing the design brief.
The entrance to the Garden or Remembrance was recently modernised. Part of the design brief involved illumination of the area and the stairway via the glass balustrade with lighting to be incorporated into the stainless steel handrail. Read the rest of this entry »

The traditional fluorescent lighting system was installed into service station canopys. The lighting being switched on for long periods resulted in extremely high running and maintenance costs. Texaco had to look for more efficient alternatives to replace their fluorescent canopy lighting.
A Landmark Building in Pearse Street the Academy Building had a beautiful plastered ceiling within the great room. The ceiling was illuminated with fluorescent tubing around the perimeter. The usual problems with fluorescent started to occur. Shadow gaps between the batons and there was limited access to the area to replace the batons.
The most frustrating problem was the colour of the replacement tubes was always slightly different to the tubes that had been in place. Coupled with these issues was the consumption costs, the system had been running at around 50watts per metre. Read the rest of this entry »
The Academy Hotel in Dublin had up to 300m of Xenon lighting within decorative coffers throughout the hotel’s reception bar and dining area. The system was consuming up to 85watts per metre and required regular maintenance.
This installation is on the uppermost façade of the exterior of an extremely high building where access for maintenance is a major issue.
A public space within the UCD campus that comes alive at night. Feature benches with illumination internally, illumination of planters and planting, various bespoke features combine to create what is a real feature area within the campus.
The plaza and entrance to the new children museum at the Beacon is as you will see from the images very carefully illuminated using indirect soft lighting effects.
