As part of the Titanic attraction a major lighting feature was designed, in association with Geoghegan Electrical, to signify the original birthplace of both the Titanic and the Olympic. The Lighting feature involved the entire perimeter of both ships as they stood on their original slipway being outlined by a Ground recessed Linear LED Strip Light. Masts detailing the massive height of each of the ships signified by linear LED Shooting into the sky.This truly is an amazing build.

Designed and fabricated as a project specific bespoke item and integrated into the walkway handrail the fitting consumes less than 10watts, provides excellent light level and will offer maintenance free vandal proof lighting to the walkway for over 10 years.

Again the main design concerns – achieving light level, the correct colour temperature, durability in terms of the environment and other issue such as vandalism, all contributed to quite a specific design brief. FibreLED assisted with the specification, designed & fabricated the luminaires and advised as to the installation.

We are delighted with how this lighting project turned out. This adds to FibreLED’s reputation as a quality project LED company for Civil Exterior LED Lighting schemes.

Consisting of an array of large interactive display monitors, interactive display video walls, corporate meeting rooms, all seamlessly integrated into a simple user friendly interface facility.

The lighting design consists of over 75 fully controllable lighting circuits ranging from 1-10v dimming, mains dimming, and DMX Colour changing control. All of which was required to be individually addressable and scene set via lighting control system. Third party controls allow selection programming and control via tablet PC.

The overall theme of the suite is cutting edge, integration, simplicity, technology at its best.

FibreLED in association with Globoserv provided a fully specified system consisting of range of angle specific LED downlights. We used the NEW Toshiba I-CORE 8.5W dimmable downlight.  Our FLPod Linear system was used throughout in Single Colour and RGB Colour Change.

FibreLED also specified and assembled custom DMX and dimming LED lighting panels. All built to the specific requirements of the project.

FibreLED also designed, fabricated and installed the Fibre Optic hanging feature piece to the main meeting room.

This project was delivered by fibreLED seamlessly and completed within an extremely tight time frame. It again outlines FibreLED’s ability to take a very complex and sophisticated project from the inception through to full completion.

Lighting within the Tram Fleet was one of the key areas identified as a major area where significant reductions could be achieved in terms of running cost and maintenance.

Of the many hurdles that needed to be overcome, integrating an LED system seamlessly into the electro battery system of the tram was paramount. Additionally, achieving the strict light levels and colour rendering offered further challenges. After a period of trial and testing fibreLED supplied and fitted a bespoke LED Tube from our FLTUBE LED series. The system was fitted seamlessly integrated and was specified supplied and installed by FibreLED.

The brief was outlined as follows;

• To specify a range of quality LED lamps and fittings that would integrate into existing  display cabinets countrywide achieving specified light levels and colour rendering levels.
• To provide a system for a roll out of new display cabinets countrywide.
• To provide a system for the Newbridge sections within the major retailers such as House of Frasier, Arnotts, Brown Thomas etc..
• To provide a LED Retail system for The Newbridge own retail outlets; Newbridge Stores  Blanchardstown & Cork
• To install all countrywide within a specified timeframe and to a specified budget.

The size of this task cannot be underestimated, with approximately 200 locations and over 600 cabinets now completed. A huge amount of planning and coordination was required. FibreLED delivered a seamless programme within budget and within the specified time frame. This project firmly outlines fibreLED’s ability to deliver on a national level.

Newbridge Silverware have approximately 300 retail partners country wide displaying their range of products in various types of wall and floor cabinet displays. Typically these cabinets were illuminated using traditional halogen lamps. These lamps caused major problems – needing constant maintenance, running all day every day the cost for retailers was significant . Additionally the heat and uv caused significant damage to the product on display.

Less than a year prior to FibreLED winning this contract Newbridge had installed a cluster LED solution to the cabinets with lamps failing within a year. With this experience Newbridge sought a quality, robust durable and warrantied solution. Something FibreLED strive to offer to all our projects.

After a long sampling process, a mix of the FibreLED EVOLED natural white downlighter, our FLCREE 3 & 5 Watt LED Lamps were chosen.  The before and after effect is quite remarkable, running cost are significantly reduced and maintenance is eliminated.

Aviation Company Air Contractors based in Dublin recently moved to the large former DHL building in Swords Co Dublin.

The existing building was incredibly inefficient from a lighting perspective and as part of the refurbishment this was to be addressed and options for alternatives sought.

What was needed was a simple retrofit product that would offer commercial level of lumen output and commercial colour that was required in a busy working office.

FibreLED specified and supplied our EVOLED WH NW throughout the main open plan office areas across all floors, within corridors, meeting rooms, the main reception and toilets.

The fittings provided a brighter cleaner more natural light than the traditional system that was in place. The fittings were supplied with a 7-YEAR WARRANTY. An incredible 85% reduction in consumption was achieved when mapped against the traditional system.

Commercial LED lighting solutions – need brightness, need correct colour temperature, need ease in installation and simple retrofit… All achieved with the FibreLED Range.

Long linear strip of LED halo light the glass shell. The strip virtually inaccessible needed to be of the most durable and reliable on the market. The effect required absolute consistency in colour brightness and finite attention to detail during installation.

To the underside the EVOLED Downlighter is inserted into the stainless steel framework throughout.

Intricate and precise design, excruciating sampling and product specification process and painstaking installation.. The effect however speaks for itself…

The specification required an LED strip system that would be flexible enough to easily fit into light boxes of many various sizes, a system that would be bight enough to offer similar light levels to that of the fluorescent and a system that was suitably durable and had to correct warranties to be used in such a large-scale LED switching project.

After a painstaking testing and sampling period the fibreLED FLpod LED LUX system was chosen. It offers sufficient light level is flexible, durable, uses high quality diodes and will consume around 85% less power that the a fluorescent system. Considering all the signage being on for long periods the system will offer huge savings within the Airport and will pay for itself in terms of savings within around 12months.

The lighting being switched on for long periods throughout the centre meant management had to look for more efficient alternative to their lighting system.

A system that would provide the existing light levels,  easy installation and a minimum maintenance programme was required. The Swan Centre replaced the 70watt metal halide with the 15watt LED downlighter lux  which not only reduced usage from 4500kw to 975 watts but also provided a higher light level than the existing lighting.

Problem: Intense heat from 75watt AR111 Lamps caused the retail space to be uncomfortable and the air conditioning to be running over time. This created a huge consumption costs within the store.

Solution: FibreLED Power LED AR111 offered a heat free alternative, fraction of the running cost, and no maintenance. The air conditioning was also turned down adding to further savings. FibreLED LED lamps offer the correct light level and colour temperature to act as a suitable replacement for a retail scenario.

FibreLED recently completed the lighting installation within the SPA in the new five Star Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire in Dublin.  Our brief was to create a five star atmosphere, a relaxed mood and relaxed and enjoyable surrounding using a range of Fibre Optic and LED lighting effects.

Fibre Optic feature pieces within the treatment rooms create with a hypnotic twinkle effect. The awareness to the notion of light therapy and sensory stimulation as part of an overall treatment within a spa was a main consideration here.

Cove lighting halo effect within treatment rooms, over pool and throughout corridors dressing rooms creates and adds to a very a sleek feel throughout the SPA.

Fibre Optic Mood wall within relaxation room again reemphasizes the sensory experience and adds greatly to the treatment.

Bespoke LED acrylic bedside stands and planter boxes create a unique and aqua mood to the relaxation room.

Within the wet area such as the sauna, the steam rooms Fibre Optic colour changing effects add to what is a truly unique and most effective lighting installation.

Carrickdale Hotel – Spa Lighting installation. The brief was to create an ambient atmosphere throughout the Spa/Sauna area. This was achieved by installing an FLpod LED RGB colourchanging strip system behind the glass mood wall and into the ceiling coves. The result is an environment that encomapasses the idea of relaxation and well being. The mood can be controlled at the touch of a button and the atmosphere can be changed from a warming amber to a cool relaxing blue.  The lighting in the spa/sauna area is very unique and adds greatly to the experience of the Spa.

The custom luminaire was recessed in to the handrail and was required to provide a functional and consistent halo across the bridge walkway.

The design brief threw up a number of concerns, the fittings were not easily accessible post installation, there were issues such as potential vandalism and given the location weathering was a major concern. Coupled with that the fitting was required to reach a certain lux level, be anti-glare and due to its location product failure was not an option.

The fibreLED FLpod LED LUX was the LED used at the light source for this application. The FLpod LED LUX Strip system was recessed into a stainless steel box section housing complete with frosted polycarbonate face cover. A fret cut stainless steel cover plate covered the entire fitting leaving only the linear strip of light.

The FLpod LED LUX is a very reliable, extremely durable LED strip system. It has been used in countless diverse applications both interior and exterior. The system consumes approximately 5 watt per linear meter as compared to almost 9 times this for the traditional alternative. The light should last up to 50,000 hrs at 100% brightness and are durable to withstand the best our Irish winters can throw at them! For peace of mind when failure is not an option and access for maintenance is a concern it has proved itself time and time again.

As you can see from the images the affect on the bridge is glorious.

The landmark James Joyce Bridge, crossing the Liffey in Dublin’s city centre was the site of FibreLED’s latest high profile project.

The recently built feature bridge was previously illuminated with over 100 x 5ft standard fluorescent tubes consuming a massive 7500watts.

Access for maintenance was a major problem and required road closures. The fluorescent tubes were frequently blowing, creating constant maintenance issues which proved very costly and therefore unsustainable. Both from a safety perspective and visually as a feature the lighting to the bridge in its existing format was simply not working. Additionally the massive consumption of the existing system needed to be reduced as a matter of urgency.

FibreLED in association with Read Electrical Contractors and Dublin Corporation presented our FLTube1500 LED. This is a clear LED tube replacement fitting that offers a replacement to a traditional fluorescent tube with a 70% reduction in consumption, similar light levels and up to 50,000 hour maintenance free lighting.

The installation of LED tubes reduced the consumption from over 7500watts to approximately 2000watts and will eliminate previous maintenance and access issues.

Each luminaire comes complete with integral LED PSU and thermal management system to ensure maximum output and durability. Fittings offer high lumen output with little wastage and no maintenance.

FibreLED in association with H.Shiels electrical contractors provided the following;

Tube replacement – FLTube600-c – 9-Watt LED Fluorescent tube replacement. This was installed into 600 x 600 ceiling modular fittings throughout the office areas reducing the consumption per fittings from 85watts approx to 36watts.

Downlights – FL1069A - 15Watt Recessed LED downlight replaced the recessed PL and metal halide downlights. This replacement reduced the consumption per fitting from 72/80watts to 15watts – a massive savings.

Downlights – FLDLLED5 – 5Watt Recessed LED downlights replaced existing 50watt halogen dichroic downlights. Reducing the consumption from 50watts to 5watts per fitting – This represents 90% reduction in consumption savings.

This was a significant LED replacement project. LED Lighting was used as the only task lighting within a commercial office environment. It was a massive success and the HSE felt confident and assured in the quality of product, the warranties in place and indeed the track record and expertise of FibreLED in commercial LED projects.

Due to the fact that lights were on for long periods resulting in very high running cost management had to investigate alternative lighting options. A FL tube LEd was installed into vapour proof fittings. These tubes have been rigorously tested and built to the highest standard for long life maintenance free applications. This offered a durable and extremely efficient alternative to traditional fluorescent lighting with countless environmental advantage and substantial consumption savings. It met with brightness level requirements and produced a reduction from 130watts per fitting to 40 watts.

Buck Whaleys recent refurb required a slick, atmospheric lighting detail. The landmark nightclub required both feature lighting and functional traditional lighting to facilitate a multifunctional venue. The brief was to create an atmoshere of both a weekend venue and a corporate functions venue. This meant the lighting system had to be versatile to give the functional effect but also give the atmospheric nightclub effect. FibreLED were commissioned to assist in the creation of this. Colour Changing systems were installed to bar and nightclub areas as well as traditional, functional and dimmable luminares . Coupled with the luxury interior the overall finish is a cool and stylish nighclub.

IAWS recently relocated to their new state of the art multimillion euro distribution centre in Grange Castle in Dublin.

As part of the design brief the glass exterior structure was required to be subtly illuminated in hours of darkness to reflect the modern design, sleek lines and innovative build of the main office building.

In association with the Art Of Light, FibreLED manufactured a bespoke LED strip system complete with custom housing. An exact level of brightness was needed so that the building was illuminated to a level yet not overbearing, garish or obtrusive to those working within the building. The system was required to give a halo, a glow to elevation yet the actual luminaires creating the effect were required to be discreet and not immediately visible.

Access for maintenance was also and issue therefore the system to be installed had to be of the utmost durability. The LED system was resin sealed for weathering protection. The bespoke housing gave due tolerance for expansion due to heat build-up behind the glass facia.

The LED Strip system installed in low voltage (12v) and consumes just 5watts per metre. The running cost for the system is negligible, the system requires no maintenance. This simple design using a quality, durable LED system is very effective.

FibreLED were involved the design, manufacture and installation of a bespoke luminaire to be recessed into the stainless steel handrail. The LED strip system is resin sealed for maximum moisture protection, installed into a pvc channel with a polycarbonate face cove for vandalism protection. System is also low voltage and consumes less that 5watts per metre so consumption costs are negligible. The system also requires little or no maintenance.

The entrance to the Garden or Remembrance was recently modernised. Part of the design brief involved illumination of the area and the stairway via the glass balustrade with lighting to be incorporated into the stainless steel handrail.

Vandalism, light level, maintenance and running cost are all issues facing the design brief. FibreLED were involved the design, manufacture and installation of a bespoke luminaire to be recessed into and the stainless steel handrail. The LED strip system is resin sealed for maximum moisture protection, installed into a pvc channel with a polycarbonate face cove for vandalism protection. System is also low voltage and consumes less that 5watts per metre so consumption costs are negligible. The system also requires little or no maintenance

Ceiling coffers throughout the hotel were to be installed with fluorescent lamps. The potential of high running cost, maintenance, and shadow gaps between the batons caused the design to be reviewed.

FibreLED provided our colour changing FLpod LED strip system. Consuming just 5watts per metre against over 40watts per metre for the fluorescent, over 300m the energy saving was incredible. Additionally, the LED strip requires no changing of lamps, has a consistent gap free linear illumination with the option of colour changing.

A system that would provide the light levels, was easily installed and that would not required regular maintenance was required. Texaco replaced the lighting with the revolutionary FLpod LED signage system, which significantly reduces running costs and reduces the need for maintenance.

Problems also encountered previously with fluorescent canopy lighting was sporadic spots where the light fades or in some cases completely goes out. The FLpod LED system is consistent linear light with no gaps and guaranteed not to fade or fail. Texaco are now enjoying massive savings.

The most frustrating problem was the colour of the replacement tubes was always slightly different to the tubes that had been in place. Coupled with these issues was the consumption costs, the system had been running at around 50watts per metre.

The solution required an LED strip system that would be easily retrofitted, be extremely energy efficient, and would be durable in that the area post installation would be very difficult to access. More importantly however was that the LED system had to offer similar light levels and colour temperature to the Fluorescent. As you will notice the light had to travel up around 1.5m along the curved ceiling. As part of the sampling process 2m of the FLpod LED LUX warm white system was installed. Some of the fluorescent batons in the various colours were also switched on to offer a comparison. In direct comparison the client was shown the LED in situ. It was clear it offered a clean consistent light, excellent light level and perfect colour temperature

The Xenon was running almost 24hours per day and was proving very costly. The system was also proving extremely costly to maintain and had entire sections that were completely out. The hotel was conscious or running costs and needed a solution that coupled with low consumption would offer the warm white colour, would offer a strong level of light and would require no maintenance. FibreLED’s system met all the requirements and was quickly and easily retrofitted. The FLpod LED LUX warm white is a flexible high output LED strip system it consumes around 5watt per metre and compared to the 85watts. Based on these huge savings the system will have paid for itself within a year.

The installation required a durable, long-lasting, and extremely bright LED product. FibreLED’s, FLpod LED signage system was installed to the signage and mounted to the façade. Quinn’s illuminated logo is very eye-catching, bright and the worry of failure or fading is completely eradicated.

A constant source of frustration and annoyance for us lighting people is the failure of those charged with design of landscaped areas and indeed their clients to adequately grasp the importance of the lighting scheme within the space. Expensive trees and plants, marble paving, cast iron or stainless steel water features cast into darkness for most of their existence by a failure to embrace the lighting brief.

Darkness falls in this country of ours in or around 5-6pm for about eight months of the year.
A large glass window at the rear of a home or within a corporate building becomes a large black square for most of the year. Indeed for the most part we are more often looking out upon a garden or landscaped area more so that being out in.

Could you imagine the garden light being the first lights you turned on when you arrived home? Could you imagine as you sit to dinner dimming down the internal lights and allowing the garden to flood into your living space? Could you imagine the black space at the back of you home becoming almost like a piece of art hanging on the wall?

Through careful design and thoughtful positioning FibreLED can turn this black space into a whole new room. Pockets of soft colour enhance planting and scrubs, illuminated trees silhouette onto the lawn or onto the walls behind creating a wealth of activity when the wind blows.

“As diverse as design itself” is how we describe the many applications where Fibre Optic and LED lighting can be used to fantastic effect. FibreLED offer a service whereby we can sit down and trash out a design for a one off custom-made light feature. We offer a service whereby we can take your design idea and bring it to life. The teasing out of a design is a process we enjoy and developing a solution, developing an idea is an area of our business that makes us unique.

Within our manufacturing process we incorporate various coloured frosted glass/acrylics, we work with stainless steel and aluminium and marry this with the flexibility of Fibre Optic and LED lighting for bespoke light features and one off fitting.

Landscaped areas, water features, corporate receptions/lobbies, backdrops, stairwells, feature walls, glass staircases requiring that extra something can be transformed. Additionally, many applications require something more than a standard fitting from the pages of a catalogue. Bespoke luminaries, one off fittings and adjustments to the standard and modifications are all part of this service.

Signage Retrofit – LED Better Light, Better Life

A company’s signage is a crucial part of any business and is typically a major part of a company’s building facia design. In 2011 FibreLED carried out a number of projects whereby we replaced building signage and reinvigorated it with our LED system. In some cases it involves manufacture of new lettering or in other cases fibreLED simply reconditioned existing signage, repainted where necessary and installed our FLpod LED lux system and reinstalled the signage.

In most instances the signage is very difficult to access this means that general maintenance may not have taken place on the sign for years and the traditional lighting Neon or fluorescent may have failed a year previous.

FibreLED can Repair, Replace and Reinvigorate building signage, creating bright, vibrant and effective lettering which adds massively to any building facade.

FibreLED can deliver the entire project, removal, reinstallation and the manufacture of new lettering where required.
